Department Club – PRAVEGA, was set up in the year 2017 with a motto
- To improve the practical awareness of the students which include designed and building of working models an operating them.
- To encourage and guide students to participate in various competitions held in our college and other college.
- To guide students in their final year project and for paper presentation.
The above objectives of the club, took shape during the college technical fest AVION 2022, the inter collegiate technical fest of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering. It was organized on 10th and 11th June 2022.
A team of enthusiastic students willing to work as volunteers/co-ordinators was formed under the supervision of Head of Department and faculty co-ordinator. Events conducted was discussed among student co-ordinator, faculty co-ordinator and Head of the Department. The finalized list consists of 5 events with student chapter in AeSI.
The co-ordinators came up with a program schedule which has to conducted on 10th and 11th June as follows
Day 1
- Inauguration of AeSI Student Chapter
- Aircraft sketching
- Hydro-Rocketry
Day 2
- Aircraft sketching
- CAD modelling
- Mind sweepers
The rule for all the events was prepared by the students with the consent of HOD and Faculty in charge (Rule Book Enclosed). A registration fee of Rs. 100/- was fixed for each event and a cash price of Rs. 2000/- for First place, Rs.1000/- for Second place and Rs.500/- for third place was also decided as per the direction of the Principal.
A brief report of the event was prepared and submitted to the Principal with a request to sanction financial assistance for the event. A request letter with schedule and rule book was sent to various college having Aeronautical branches for wide publicity and participation.
Two students for each event were identified as Event volunteers/co-ordinators who were
responsible for smooth conduction of their respective events, inviting the judges, arranging the requirements, finalization of the results etc.
Intercollegiate Tech Fest, AVION 2022 started on 10th June, following with registration for all the events.
Day 1- 10th June 2022
Event 1: Inauguration of AeSI student chapter
The program was started with invocation song and by lighting lamp. A welcome speech was given by Dr. Deepa M S, HOD, AE, SJCIT. A brief introduction was given about Chief guest V Balakrishnan by Mrs Shireesha. Dr. G T Raju, Principal, SJCIT addressed the gathering. The session was hand overed to Chief guest V Balakrishna n, Vice Chairman, Aeronautical Society of India, Bengaluru Division. He discussed about job opportunities, industria l experience, future scope, modern tools used in industries, opportunities offered in AeSI . Further the session got ended, Dr. S N Nataraja proposed vote of thanks to the dignitaries. Then the AVION logo was launched by using hydro rocket.
Event 2: Aircraft sketching
Theme for the event was given as future scope in aircraft industry or aircraft of imagination The following students was declared as winners by Judge – Dr. Deepa M S and Prof. Vidya 1st Place- Akash M- 8th SEM, AE, SJCIT

3rd Place- Umesh Rana – 8th SEM, AE, SJCIT
Event 3: Hydro Rocket
Launching of rocket models made of 2 litre plastic bottle, the given model was pressurized using water.
It had 2 rounds
- 1st round, the pressure was set to 50 bar.
- 2nd round, it was left to participants to decide the pressure to given.

Event 4: CAD & CATIA Modelling
A competition held for modelling an engine mount part from the orthographic projection given as a drawing. This event was judged by Prof. Rohit L G and Dr. S N Nataraja
The following students were declared as the winners 1st Place – Girish – 8th SEM, AE, SJCIT
2nd Place –Mallangouda- 6th SEM, AS, SJCIT
Event 5: Aircraft scripting
A theme was given to the students as future trends in aviation industry or to write about an aircraft of their imagination. This event was judged by Dr. Deepa M S and Prof. Harikrishna
The following students were declared as the winners 1st Place – Prasad Belangundkar- 8th SEM, AE, SJCIT 2nd Place – Bharath Kumar S-4th, SEM, AE, SJCIT 3rd Place – Akash M- 8th SEM, AE, SJCIT
Event 6: Mind Sweepers – Technical Quiz
Techno Quiz which had an initial elimination round to select only 6 teams for the next round in this round 20 questions were given each to solve in 10 mins.
Top 6 teams were selected for the next series of rounds which had general round, rapid fire and visual round. This event was judged by Prof. Vidya and Prof. Sunkappa

1st Place – Vignesh Gowda& Ganesh, AE, SJCIT 2nd Place –Rohan S & Manjunath J, AE, SJCIT 3rd Place –Niveditha S & Meghana D, AE, SJCIT
Felicitation of the above winners of the all events was organized on the second day i.e., 11th June 2022 and a cash price of Rs. 2000/- for First Place, Rs. 1000/- for Second Place and Rs. 500/- for Third Place was handed over along with the certificate of Appreciation by HOD Dr. Deepa M S, accomplished by the thanks giving to all the faculties, volunteers and participants who worked towards the success of the Technical Festival AVION 2022 under the club PRAVEGA, Department of Aeronautical Engineering.S J C INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
